The MNL48 2nd general election, Aly crowned as new center girl. The three members are half Japanese and half Filipino.

MNL48は１期生48名とオーディションを通過した2期生29名をを合わせた総勢77名の候補者による第2回総選挙を終え昨年の26位からジャンプアップしたアリーさん（18歳）がセンターポジションを獲得。2位、3位はセラさん（19歳）、アビーさん（21歳）の順。今回メンバー入りとなった選抜（1位～16位）、アンダーガールズ（17位～32位）、ネクストガールズ（33位～48位）の48名の中には2期生12名が新メンバーとして選ばれており、1期生12名がメンバー入りできずに卒業となった。日本のAKBグループ同様の過酷なサバイバルシステムに一部否定的なファンもいるようだが、プロデューサーのパウロ黒澤氏は「確かに残れなかったメンバーはかわいそうだが、それがアイドルの世界。すべての候補者がメンバー入りのため全力で選挙に臨み、ファンの皆さんも全力で応援する。それが総選挙※です。」と語る。
また、今回は日比ハーフの3名がメンバー入り。5位のSAYAKAこと粟根さやかさん（19歳）と23位のKAYこと石山楓さん（19歳）、31位のMIHOこと星野みほさん（18歳）。3人とも日本語も堪能なので、ぜひフィリピン人だけでなく日本人ファン獲得のためにも活躍を期待したい。
MNL48はすでに一定層のファン獲得には成功しているが、それはまだ充分とは言えない。日本発のアイドルグループシステムでフィリピンのトップスターの座は掴めるのか？彼女たちの挑戦はまだまだ続く。
MNL48 finished the second general election out of 77 candidates selected by fans, through voting system, including 48 First generation and 29 Second generation who passed the audition. Where Aly (18 years old) was crowned as the new Center Girl following Sela (19 years old) at rank 2 and Abby (21 years old) at rank 3, switching places from last year’s election.
In addition, the three members are half Japanese and half Filipino joined this time. SAYAKA (19 years old) 5th rank and KAY (19 years old) 23rd rank, MIHO (18 years old) 31st rank. They are all fluent in Japanese, so I hope they will be active not only for Filipinos but also for Japanese fans.
