夢に出てきた神秘の洞穴を発見
アンティポロ・ミスティカル・ケーブ
1970年代、イロンゴ 族（西部ビサヤ地方の民族）の血を引く女性インダイ・ネリー（ Inday Nelly）さんは、ルソン地方リサール州アンティポロ市である場所を探し回っていました。彼女が探していたのは洞穴。彼女の夢に出てきた洞穴でした。

あるとき、ネリーさんは穴を見つけました。大きさ５ペソ硬貨ほどの小さな穴。それこそが、夢に出てきた洞穴の入口であり、今、パワースポットとして知られるアンティポロ・ミスティカル・ケーブだったのです。発見後、1カ所だけ人が通れる大きさの入口が作られて人の手が加えられましたが、それ以外は発見当時そのままの姿が残されています。
石にしたたり落ちる滴（しずく）に癒す力が宿っているといわれ、そのパワーを信じて多くの人が訪れます。聖週間にはキャンプをして宿泊し、祈りを捧げる人も。荘厳な鍾乳石とともに、願掛けの井戸もあります。洞穴の深さは８階建ての建物に相当し、台風などのときにはネリーさんと家族を守ってくれる避難場所となります。自然が生んだユニークな地形は、映画の撮影地としても使われています。
現在76歳になったインダイ・ネリーさんは、見つけてから50年を経た今も洞穴を守り続けています。近くに道路が建設されて、アクセスしやすくなりましたが、訪れる際はこの洞穴は天から贈られた聖なる奇跡であり、畏敬の念を持つことを忘れずに向き合いたいものです。
Antipolo Mystical Cave
A Sacred Abode Discovered from a Vision
Just 15 minutes away from the Cogeo Wet and Dry Market, situated at Mt. Puting Bato, lies the Mystical Cave known to have miraculous powers for those seeking spiritual healing. Discovered in the 1970s, Inday Nelly, of Ilonggo descent, was wandering around Antipolo looking for a cave filled with holy images from visions she had in her dreams. The search was finally over when she reached the entrance, which was just a hole the size of a 5-peso coin. A bigger opening was created to provide entry, and until now, it’s the only part of the cave that is manmade to preserve the original structure and rock formations inside.
It is said that the water droplets and stones in the cave have healing powers, which is why it’s a popular spot among believers. During the Lenten season, people would camp overnight and offer their prayers. There is also a wishing well within the cave where you can make wishes with pure intentions. It is two electric poles deep and unexplored, which adds an air of mystery to the place.
Aside from its religious miracles, the 100-step journey towards the entrance and the exploration within truly showcase that it is a work of nature’s art. Each level of the 8-story cave reveals awe-inspiring stalagmites and stalactites that are already a sight on their own. It’s no wonder that fantasy films like Dyesebel, Amazing Treasure, Encantadia, and many more were shot in this otherworldly realm within the mountain. Cave animals like swiftlets also dwell inside its mystical walls as a safe and secure habitat where Inday Nelly’s family can even seek shelter during calamities and heavy typhoons.
As it becomes more accessible due to roads being built nearby, Inday Nelly, at 76, continues to preserve and protect the sacredness of this blessed place bestowed upon her for the people. The Antipolo Mystical Cave is a miraculous gift, where respect must be shown for those who seek it.
