マニラの中心で、ルアーを投げる ハーバースクエア
こんなところで釣りができる!?と驚いてしまうのが、マニラ湾沿いのロハス大通り（Roxas Boulevard)、フィリピン文化センター（CCP）そばのハーバースクエア。まさにマニラのど真ん中。LRT１号線のビトクルズ（Vito Cruz）駅からも徒歩約15分で釣り場に行くことができます。

Harbour Square is located around CCP Complex, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas,
and Department of Finance.
狙うのはパンをエサにバグス（ミルクフィッシュ）やティラピア、ルアーでブアンブアン（インドパシフィック・ターポン）など。釣具の販売や貸出しをしている人やエサ用のパンを売る人もいて、足場もいいのでファミリーフィッシングにもピッタリ。1日中釣り人の姿が絶えませんが、釣果をめざすなら朝か夕方がおすすめ。周囲にレストランがあるので、釣りの後にくつろぐこともできます。なお、水質はきれいとはいえないので、水を持参して釣りの後は手や使ったルアーなどを洗いましょう。

Fishing in the heart of Manila? You might be surprised to know that you can fish in Harbour Square just beside the Cultural Center of the Philippines along Roxas Boulevard. You can catch bangus and tilapia using bread as bait and buan buan (Indo-Pacific tarpon) with artificial lures. There are even people who have fishing tackle for sale or for rent and people who sell bread for the fish. It is the perfect place for family fishing because it is spacious and there are many restaurants around where you can enjoy and relax after.

狙いは大河に潜む大物 パシッグリバー・エスプラネード
マニラ市の中華街ビノンド、かつて「アジアのウォール街」といわれたエスコルタ通り（Escolta Street)を5分ほど歩くとパシッグ川に出ます。ジョーンズ・ブリッジを渡り、中央郵便局を目指すと見えてくるのが、パシッグリバー・エスプラネード。この遊歩道は市民の憩いの場であるだけでなく、釣り人にとっても絶好のスポットになっています。

狙うのはフィリピンでクリームドリーと呼ばれるナマズの仲間パンガシウス。日本でウナギのかば焼きの代用として話題になったこともある魚です。このポイントでは5キロ級の大物も釣り上げられています。エサはルンピアの生皮。フィリピンの人が大好きなルンピアは、魚も好きなんですね。
ゆるやかに流れるパシッグ川には、ルアーに果敢にアタックしてきそうな大物も潜んでいそうな気がします。この釣り場も水質はきれいとは言い難いので、手や釣り具を洗う水を持参することをおすすめします。

Target : Monster Fish in Pasig River
The Pasig River Esplanade in Binondo, Chinatown, Manila area is not only a recreational place for the public but also a great spot for fishing. Anglers usually target Pangasius. It is a species of catfish more commonly known as cream dory in the Philippines, and up to 5kg or heavier can be caught in these waters. Filipinos love lumpia, and so do these fish, as the popular bait to use is raw lumpia wrappers. Despite its gentle flow, the Pasig River yields mighty and big fish that would be a challenge to catch!
