歌を届けたいという想いを込めた」そうだが、実は裏の 意味があり
「自分を生んでくれた母の名前の陽子に由来します」。

is an artist who writes, composes, and performs his own unique island pop songs
while traveling the seas around the world. In addition to musical activities
such as holding solo live concerts and appearing at festivals,
he is also involved in marine conservation activities.
ミュージックビデオ撮影のため２月にパラワン島エルニドとセブを訪れたアーティストのSunさん。彼が海と太陽を求めて世界を旅し、作詞作曲をするようになったきっかけは、海難事故に遭遇したことでした……。
パニックの船で冷静
「海がチャンスをくれた」
7年前、沖縄を観光旅行中に慶良間諸島から那覇へ高速船に乗っていたとき、エンジントラブルが発生しました。すると乗客約200人がパニックになって、各自で救命胴衣を着始めたんです。船は故障していない方のエンジンのみを稼働させてゆっくりと航行し、無事那覇に着くことができました。
このような状況の中、私はちょうどシュノーケルを持っていたので「もし沈んだら泳げばいいか」と考えていました。また、タイタニック号が沈みゆく中、音楽家が演奏を続けていたという話、欧米で電車に乗っていて何かあって閉じ込められたときに、居合わせたアーティストが音楽で乗客を落ち着かせるといった話も思い浮かべていました。そして、当時ラップやダンスをしていましたが、切迫した状況で人を落ち着かせることができるのは、弾き語りだと思いついたんです。
アコースティックギターなら電気もいらず、いつでもできる。事故をこのように考えるのは不謹慎かもしれませんが、無事だったこともあってポジティブ思考の私は、海でこのような経験をしたことを「海が自分にアーティストになるきっかけ、チャンスをくれた」と思ったんです。
自作曲のすべてに「海」
導かれて再びフィリピンに
湘南、沖縄をはじめとする日本各地の海、ハワイ、バリ島。海を旅して、南国、海のエッセンスを取り入れるのが私独自の音楽のスタイルです。トロピカルなビートにビーチパーティーの雰囲気、自作の曲のすべてに海が存在しています。
フィリピンに来たのは昨年８月、観光省によるプロモーションツアーにインフルエンサーとして参加して訪れたセブが初めてでした。行く前は沖縄の離島っぽい感じを想像していたんですが、セブは大都市で驚きましたね。
今回、ミュージックビデオの撮影に当たって、フィリピンに引き寄せられるようにエルニドに来ました。フィリピンの島には表情があって、海は神聖な感じがします。私はサーフィン、ダイビングなどマリンスポーツ全般を楽しみますが、例えば、アイランドホッピングをしたり、ボホール島でターシャなど動物を見たり、特に海に入らなくても十分に楽しめるのがフィリピンの魅力ではないでしょうか。
未知のフィリピンを
音楽を通じて発信したい
フィリピンの人の印象としては、日本の音楽が好きな人が多いように思います。セブで「上を向いて歩こう」を歌いながら歩く地元の人を見たこともあります。あと子どもが人懐こくて、私を見て「マウイ！マウイ！（アニメ映画「モアナと伝説の海」の登場人物）」と近寄ってきます。よくフィリピン人と日本人のハーフだと間違われるんですが、それもなんとなくうれしい。
7000以上もの島からなるフィリピンには、まだ知られていない魅力があると思っています。フィリピンとは関わりを持ち続けて、音楽を通じて日本の人たちはもちろん、フィリピンの人たちに向けてもまだ知られていないフィリピンを発信していきたい。フィリピン各地で行われているフェスティバルにも参加したいです。日本でビーチクリーニングやサンゴの養殖などに取り組んでいるので、フィリピンでも海洋保全に役立つことができたらいいなと思っています。
今年中に、また必ずフィリピンに来ます。次はシャルガオ島でサーフィンを楽しみます。

Music Expressing Philippine Charm
through the Essence of the Sea
Artist Sun visited Cebu and El Nido, Palawan last February 2025 to shoot his next music video. Traveling the world in pursuit of different sights of the vast sea and the bright sun, he suddenly experienced a maritime incident that motivated him to become a musician.
The Sea Gave Me a Chance
Seven years ago, when I was on a high-speed boat during a trip in Okinawa, engine trouble happened. Being a positive thinker and having snorkeling equipment with me, I thought I could swim if the boat sank, but the approximate 200 passengers on board were panicking and put on life jackets. The boat continued to sail slowly with the remaining engine and eventually, we all reached the destination safely.
As I watched the situation, I was reminded of the scene in the movie Titanic, where musicians continued to play their instruments despite the boat sinking, along with stories where musicians would play to calm passengers down when trapped in a train. If only I could sing for the people with a guitar, then maybe I could have soothed their anxiety at the time. An acoustic guitar would have been perfect because it can be used without electricity anytime and anywhere. Most of all, I thought to myself “The sea gave me a chance to be a singer.”
My Return to the Philippines
Japan, Hawaii, Bali, etc. The seas around the world all have their own essence where the waves of one have a different flow from another. My music style revolves around capturing the essence of the seas I visit and trying to incorporate them through the tropical beats and beach party vibes of my songs.
I first came to the Philippines in August last year as an influencer on a promotional tour organized by the Department of Tourism. I was under the impression that Cebu would be like a remote island, but I was surprised to see a big urbanized city instead. My fascination and attraction to the Philippines is the reason why I chose El Nido to be the setting for my music video and there, I realized that the islands in this country have a unique character and the seas have a sacred and solemn feeling. I enjoy marine sports such as surfing and diving, but I think what makes the Philippines so fun is that the sea is only one of its charms. For example, you can go island hopping or see endemic animals such as the tarsiers on Bohol Island among other activities.
Conveying My Message with Music
I was surprised and impressed to see a local in Cebu singing ‘Sukiyaki’, a Japanese song from the 1960s, as we went around the city. The children were also friendly and when they saw me, they would say “Maui! Maui” (a character from the animated film Moana).
With more than 7,000 islands, I believe the Philippines has many charms that are yet to be discovered. I would like to introduce the wonders of the Philippines not only to the people of Japan but also to the Filipinos through my music. It would also be great to participate in festivals held in the country, and since I am working on beach cleaning and farming corals in Japan, I would like to help with marine conservation in the Philippines.
Siargao is another island I’m looking forward to visiting so that I can try surfing there, but what I can say for sure is that I will definitely come back to the Philippines again this year.
