出会いはフェイスブックの「知り合いかも」
一緒にいることが、何よりも大切

 

 

－なれそめは？

 

ケネス：フェイスブックを通じて2020年３月に知り合いました。「知り合いかも」に彼がいたのがきっかけです。

 

ジョン：彼が私に一目ぼれしたんです。私のプロフィール写真が聖母マリアみたいで盛れてたから(笑)

 

ケネス：しばらくの間はチャットだけだったのですが、その後首都圏ケソン市のバタサン町で実際に会いました。彼のフェイスブックにはブラカン在住と書いてあったのに、実はすぐ近くに住んでいたので驚きましたね。

 

 

－第一印象は？

 

ケネス：童顔でかわいい顔をしてるなと思いました。私にとっての初恋で、ドキドキが止まらなかったです。当時恋をするとは全く思ってなかったので、心の準備ができていませんでした。

 

ジョン：イケメンで、大人っぽいなという印象でした。

 

 

－交際開始のきっかけは？

 

ケネス：交際開始はチャットを始めてから４カ月経ったころ。ずっと彼に対するドキドキが止まらなかったので、私にとっては交際に発展したのは自然なことでした。

 

ジョン：私の場合はその４カ月のチャット期間で、彼に対する想いが芽生えました。彼が私のことを真剣に考えていると気づいたのは、お互いの親に会ったとき。典型的なフィリピン文化だと思いますが、恋人の親に会うというのは付き合ううえで大事なことだと思います。

 

ケネス：付き合い始めて２カ月目に一緒に住むようになりました。最初はバタサン町でジョンの家族と一緒に住んでいましたが、半年後に同じ町の別の通りにある現在の家に２人で引っ越しました。

 

 

－これまでの交際期間で経験した苦労は？

 

ジョン：交際１年目に彼が他の人に目移りしたことがあって、その時は大変でした。でもすでに乗り越えたことだし、もうしないと約束もしてくれたので、今は大丈夫です。

 

ケネス：基本けんかはしません。したとしても小さなけんかだけで、いつも後で笑い飛ばします。

 

ジョン：なんせ私はプリンセスですから、いつもハッピーエンディングなんです♡

 

 

－お互いの好きなところは？

 

ジョン：正直者で明るく、信心深いところ。彼が私のふるまいを理解してくれる唯一の人なので大好きです。

 

ケネス：彼はとても優しくて、私を大事にしてくれます。そういうところが大好きで、私たちの関係を安定させていると思います。

 

 

－考え方の違いで驚いたことは？

 

ケネス：特にありません。

 

ジョン：まるで双子みたいに、同じ考えを持っているので。でも彼がお風呂を面倒くさがるのは唯一驚いたところだと思います。そういうときは、濡れタオルで体を拭いてあげます。

 

 

－良い関係を継続させる秘訣は？

 

ジョン：一緒に時間を過ごし、お互いを信じること。

 

ケネス：お互いの気持ちを素直に伝えて、誠実であることです。

 

ジョン：私たちは「トロパ」（フィリピン語で親友、バディーの意味）なので。

 

 

－今年のバレンタインデーはどう過ごす？

 

ジョン：チョコレート、ケーキ、花などを用意すると思います。あとはデートに行くかな。

 

ケネス：一番大事なことは、その日を一緒に過ごすことですね。

 

 

－これまでで一番うれしかった贈り物は？

 

ジョン：一番うれしかった贈り物は彼自身、そして彼からの愛です。

 

ケネス：私も同じです。今年３回目のバレンタインデーを一緒に過ごせるのがうれしいです。

 

 

 

 

Meeting on Facebook
Being Together is the Most Important

 

 

– How did you come to know each other?

 

Kenneth: We got to know each other on Facebook in March 2020. He was on my “People you may know.”

 

John: He had a huge crush on me because my profile picture looked gorgeous like Mama Mary!

 

Kenneth: We were chatting for a while and met in person in Batasan, Quezon City. I was surprised to know we were actually neighbors in Quezon City because he had not updated his Facebook profile saying he lived in Bulacan.

 

 

– What was your first impression of your partner?

 

Kenneth: I thought he had a cute baby face. He was my first love and I had butterflies in my stomach when I met him for the first time. I didn’t expect I would have crush on someone at the time.

 

John: My first impression was that he was handsome and mature.

 

 

– What motivated you to get into a relationship with your partner?

 

Kenneth: We made our relationship official after we became chatting friends for four months. It was a natural flow because I couldn’t help thinking about him.

 

John: I gradually developed my feeling for him. I realized that he was serious about me when we introduced each other to our parents. It is a typical Filipino culture and I think it is important to meet the partner’s parents when it comes to the serious relationship.

 

Kenneth: Having lived with John’s family in Batasan for six months, we rented the current house near our family to live by ourselves.

 

 

– Did you have any challenges in the relationship?

 

John: It was hard when he got attracted to the other person in our first year. But everything is okay now because we have already overcome that and he promised me it won’t happen again.

 

Kenneth: We don’t usually argue. Even if we do, it is just a small thing and we laugh about it later on.

 

John: It is always a happy ending for a princess, you know ♥

 

 

– What do you like about your partner?

 

John: He is honest, always cheerful and a devout Christian. He is the only person who understands my behavior so I love him so much.

 

Kenneth: What I like about him is that he is gentle and takes care of me. So until now I still love him and that’s what make our relationship stable.

 

 

– Have you ever been surprised by your partner?

 

Kenneth: Nothing in particular.

 

John: We have the same attitude just like twins. But what surprises me the most while living with him was that he is sometimes too lazy to take a bath. In such a situation, I wipe his body with a wet towel.

 

 

– What is the key to a happy relationship?

 

John: To always stay together and trust each other.

 

Kenneth: We are open about our feelings. It’s important to be loyal too.

 

John: We are “tropa” (best friend/buddy in Filipino).

 

 

– What is your plan for Valentine’s Day this year?

 

John: Maybe we will have chocolate, cake, and flowers, and go out on a date.

 

Kenneth: The most important thing is to spend the Valentine’s Day together.

 

 

– What was the best gift you have received from your partner so far?

 

John: He is the best gift I have ever had, and of course the love from him.

 

Kenneth: Same for me. I’m happy to celebrate our 3rd Valentine’s Day together.
