日帰り旅行で海上ＢＢＱを堪能

　コロナ禍の前に、家族でバタンガス州の西の端、マタブンカイ・リゾートへ日帰り旅行に行きました。首都圏から車で南西に約２時間半〜３時間ほどで到着するので、長期休みは取れなくても週末にどこか足をのばしたい、という方にも比較的行きやすい場所だと思います。私は日帰りツアーを利用しましたが、もちろん宿泊旅行にもピッタリ。ホテルもありますが、海辺のコテージに泊まると、よりマタブンカイ・リゾートの良さを楽しめると思います。

　ぜひおすすめしたいのが、海にプカプカと浮いている「バルサ」でのバーベキュー。私たちは日本人の山内ジョージ氏がオーナーのバルサを利用しました。「バルサ」とは竹のいかだを組んでつくった船。屋根もついているので日差しの心配は無用で、海もとても穏やかなので船が転覆する心配もありません。魚、イカ、エビ、貝など新鮮な海の幸から肉類まで楽しめる本格的なバーベキューを周囲360度美しい海を見渡しながら、ぜいたくに堪能できます。フィリピンですから、もちろんライスも付いてきます。

　バーベキューのほかには、バルサから海に飛び込んだり、ジェットスキーやバナナボート、シュノーケリングなどを楽しむこともできます。

　防疫措置の緩和（2021年11月現在）により、マタブンカイ・リゾートに遊びに来る人が少しずつ増え、活気を取り戻しているようです。バルサは事前に予約して行くことをおすすめします。

Enjoy One Day Trip with BBQ on the Sea

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I joined a day trip tour to Matabungkay Resort in the western edge of Batangas with my family. It took around three hours to get there by car, so this resort fits for those who cannot take a long vacation but want to go for a weekend. When it comes to accommodation, I recommend cottages by the sea.

No one should miss having BBQ on the floating bamboo raft called ‘balsa.’ I booked balsa owned by a Japanese owner, Mr.Yamauchi. It has a roof that can protect you from the sun, and you don’t have to worry about the boat capsizing because the Matabungkay sea is very calm. We enjoyed fresh seafood such as fish, squid, shrimp on the balsa surrounded by the crystal-clear sea.

Apart from BBQ, you have fun trying various marine activities such as jet skiing, banana boating, snorkeling, and just jumping into the sea from the balsa!

As the travel restriction is eased, many beachgoers flock to the Matabungkay Resort. It’s better to book a balsa in advance.
