まず訪れたい３つの博物館。ナショナルミュージアム

　どこのミュージアムに行けばいいか迷ったら、まずはやはり国立博物館、ナショナル・ミュージアムへ。マニラ市のリサール公園とその周辺には芸術、自然史、人類学の３つのナショナルミュージアムがある。公園内に博物館が点在するのはまさに東京・上野公園のような感じ。堂々と荘厳な外観の建築は、ニューヨークやワシントンＤ.Ｃ.にある博物館のような雰囲気を漂わせ、写真映えも確実。ミュージアムと公園散策をセットで楽しみたい。

If you’re wondering which museum to go to, first go to the National Museum. There are three national museums in and around Rizal Park in Manila featuring fine arts, natural history, and anthropology. The majestic and photogenic buildings of the museums make you feel as if you were in New York or Washington DC. Let’s enjoy the museum and strolling around the park.

ナショナルミュージアム・オブ・アンソロポロジー

太古のフィリピン人の生活と文化を知る。

　フィリピン各地で発掘された先史時代からの遺物などを展示する人類学博物館。約３万年前にフィリピンに移住してきたとされるネグリトに関する展示では、スペイン統治前、国ができる以前の人々の生活や文化について知ることができる。ミンダナオの先住民族に関する展示もあり、マニラで暮らしているとあまり感じることがない多民族国家としてのフィリピンを実感する。

　
　伝統的な衣類や装飾、陶器、手織りのかごや器の展示、さらに米に関するコーナーもあり、フィリピン人にとっていかに米が重要であるかを改めて思い知る。海洋貿易をテーマにした展示では、海底に沈む難破船で発見された中国、タイ、ベトナムなどからの陶器、金属類など学術的に貴重な遺物が紹介される。

　人類学、民族学、考古学、歴史、さらに服飾や陶芸などに興味がある人にもおすすめの博物館。

Meet the Pre-Historic Filipino People

The Anthropology Museum exhibits prehistoric relics excavated from various parts of the Philippines. In the exhibition about the Negrito groups, which is said to have emigrated to the Philippines about 30,000 years ago, you can learn about the lives and culture of people before the rule of Spain.

By learning about the indigenous peoples of Mindanao, you will realize the Philippines is a multi-ethnic country. There are also exhibitions of traditional clothing and decorations, pottery, hand-woven baskets, and vessels. The exhibition on maritime trade of the Philippines showcases potteries and metals from China, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. found on the shipwreck.
